Portable Ops Deployment: Signal Butte
September 18 @ 6:00 am - 4:00 pm MDT
Our annual Signal Butte trip! This should be a really nice trip and maybe a little cooler than our August trip last year. This is a short but strenuous climb to the top of a small peak in Teller County. Surrounded by the Hayman burn area, you get spectacular views (360 degrees) of mountain ranges to the West and rolling hills to the East. Operate vertical or wire antennas, and you have the chance to work much of the US and possibly DX. We leave Parker at 6:00AM for a 1.5 hour drive. Depart Signal Butte around Noon to 1:00PM and then stop at our favorite BBQ spot on the way back (Rudy’s in Colorado Springs) for a late lunch. You don’t want to miss this trip. If you don’t have portable equipment and just want to come along for the hike, that works. If you plan to do portable at some point in the future and just want to check out the equipment, that works as well.
