9News locally has been hammering this in their newscasts about the dispatch channel being encrypted now. Denver PD will let them have a encrypted scanner IF they (9news) allows the PD to censor and audit all newscasts and reporting of police activity.
The last 6 months have suggested that the PD is less than forthcoming with their information.
"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes"
C'est la vie. No law against encryption...

This is true. I'm not enthusiastic in the behaviour of the local departments thought. APD for example.
I look at it from both sides. I’ve learned from my many years working for the govt not to trust the media and their agenda driven reporting. Conversely, I’m not thrilled with what is going on with govt either. Generally, there are too many agendas in life. On the topic of encryption, its nothing new and has been going on with agencies nationwide for years. Im not overly concerned.
A fair compromise in my mind would be to make 911 public. Media can follow that instead of 1st responder ops.
